Almost There: Northern Virginia On Cusp of R2034 Triumph After 6-5 Win
|
Northern Virginia designated hitter Zahid Kashani was the key at Atlantica today, being named player of the game as he powered the Rainbow Mermaids to victory in a critical Game of the Round 2034. The Rainbow Mermaids took the 6-5 win over the Portland Evergreens to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.
Had Scott Kerin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kerin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Rainbow Mermaids.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Kerin told the Northern Virginia Bulletin.
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Atlantica in Hampton. The scheduled starters for the game are Yoo-chul Mun for Portland and Raúl Gómez for Northern Virginia.
