Almost There: Northern Virginia On Cusp of R2034 Triumph After 11-3 Win
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids moved to within one game of the Round 2035 today, downing the visiting Vancouver Grey Wolves at Atlantica by a score of 11-3. Rainbow Mermaids third baseman Eustacio Tafalla was named player of the game after he was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The win gives the Rainbow Mermaids a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2034.
Northern Virginia right fielder JoJo Victory helped the Rainbow Mermaids go up, 7-3, in the bottom of the third inning. With the game tied, Victory hit a grand slam home run off Vancouver pitcher Gerardo Pagán.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Tafalla told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Andrew Moody for Vancouver and Addie Samson for Northern Virginia.
