Phoenix Wins Game in Extras; On Verge of R2035
|
The Phoenix Hotspur started the Round 2034 in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Boston Patriots in a walk-off in the 11th inning. Phoenix took the 2-1 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Miguel Rubia. The right-hander threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which gave the Hotspur a - lead to start the best-of- series.
Late in the game, designated hitter Hieronymus Bosch had a big at-bat for Phoenix. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring double off Glenn Butler. The play gave the Hotspur a 2-1 lead.
"We're happy," Rubia told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
