Host Stingers Drop Pivotal Game , Now Trail Series -
|
Game was big. So was Ron Manning.
The Buckhead starter rose to the occasion at Pacesetter Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Bowties to a crucial 6-0 victory over the Toledo Stingers. Manning threw 5 innings of shutout ball as the Bowties won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 2034.
Tied up with the Stingers in the top of the fifth inning, the Bowties got a boost from second baseman Raúl Ruíz. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ruíz saw a 0-2 cutter from Hermenegildo Beliago and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Buckhead on top, 1-0.
"I'm not sweating it," Toledo manager Francis Bova told reporters after the loss. "We'll recover. They say it's all about winning games, but I would put up with a heck of a lot of losses as long as we hoist that trophy at the end of the year."
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 2nd, 2033 at 5 Paces Park in Atlanta. The scheduled starters for the game are Juan Parales for Toledo and Octavius Pringle for Buckhead.
