Game was big. So was Ramón Molina.
The Northern Virginia starter rose to the occasion at 5 Paces Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Rainbow Mermaids to a crucial 3-2 victory over the Buckhead Bowties. Molina threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball as the Rainbow Mermaids won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 1.
Molina was in the zone all game. He frustrated Buckhead hitters while giving the Rainbow Mermaids 8 innings of quality work. Molina threw 90 pitches, allowing 6 hits and getting 8 punchouts.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Molina said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
