Round 1 Game 1 Victory for Samson\n and Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting New Jersey Fenix at Atlantica by a score of 7-2. Rainbow Mermaids left-hander Addie Samson was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Rainbow Mermaids a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

With no one out in the bottom of the third, Eustacio Tafalla barreled up a fastball from Doran Turchin. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Rainbow Mermaids in front, 4-1.

"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Tafalla told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
