Pivotal Game Goes to Host Dodgers, 3-2
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers faced a challenging opponent in Wizarding Express left-hander Bradley Roth, but did just enough to squeak out a 3-2 win in Game of the Silver League Championship today. Brooklyn now leads - in the best-of- series. The Dodgers won despite the Express getting an excellent start from starter Roth, who allowed 3 earned runs at scattered 6 hits over 7 innings.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic-born Tony Manzanares came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Dodgers trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Brooklyn on top.
Manzanares expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
