The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC got a stellar performance from pitcher Rodas Aguilar, who handcuffed the New Jersey offense en route to a 5-2 win at Great Northern Field. The winning pitcher was Aguilar, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Cherles Gachineiro finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Denis Higgins, who is rated as the 13th best prospect by BNN, aided the Thunder Bay cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the second baseman was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Higgins.
Thunder Bay has now won 3 straight, while the Fenix have lost 3 in a row.
