Late Rally by Dodgers Secures Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Brooklyn Dodgers eventually prevailed at Washington Stadium.
The Dodgers faced a stiff challenge from D.C. pitcher Iván Vázquez, but persevered to claim a win at Washington Stadium. The final score was 1-0. Vázquez went 9 innings and allowed 1 earned run. John Bailey earned the save for Brooklyn, his 6th of the year.
Had Jérôme Masson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Masson hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Dodgers.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Masson told the Brooklyn News.
Brooklyn, at 15-18, sits in 7th place in the Silver League.
