Victory Pushes Dutchmen Record to 18-15
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Richardson City Thundercats at The Thunder Dome. Nobody did more than pitcher Walt Coffman, who captured player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Coffman surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. Lorenzo Fabián closed the game out for New Amsterdam, earning his 12th save.
The Dutchmen got a big at-bat from second baseman Pedro Santos. For the game, Santos went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave New Amsterdam a 4-2 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Coffman said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Dutchmen bumped their record to 18-15 with this latest triumph.
