Dodgers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Northern Lions BC
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC got a superb performance from designated hitter David Smith, but the Brooklyn Dodgers still won the game, 6-5. Smith was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 4-6 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Brooklyn reliever Shotaro Sugahara picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Santo Velazco absorbed the loss. With the win, Brooklyn improves its record to 13-5.
Late in the game, right fielder Mike Gillespie had a big at-bat for Brooklyn. In the bottom of the 15th, he hit a run-scoring single off Santo Velazco. The play gave the Dodgers a 6-5 lead.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams.
