Rainbow Mermaids Nip Patriots, 2-1

Ricardo García never let the Patriots get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Rainbow Mermaids to a 2-1 win. Christian Mustard converted his 18th save in 22 tries. The Rainbow Mermaids bumped their record to 62-40 with this latest triumph.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from third baseman Eustacio Tafalla. For the game, Tafalla was 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 10th double of the season gave Northern Virginia a 2-1 lead.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Tafalla told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
