Rainbow Mermaids Beat Hotspur in 11
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids took Phoenix pitcher Masahiro Sakei's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Chase Field. The final score had Northern Virginia getting past the Hotspur, 3-2. Sakei went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 5. Phoenix has now lost 6 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Northern Virginia, had it not been for Scott Kerin, the 27-year old left fielder . Kerin contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Northern Virginia up, 3-2.
"There's no quit in this team," said Rainbow Mermaids manager David Lister.
