Flamingos Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rainbow Mermaids
|
Las Vegas starter Luis Peña pitched effectively against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Atlantica. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Las Vegas reliever Luis Torres was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Ricardo García took the loss for Northern Virginia. Cris Herrera earned the save for Las Vegas, his 2nd of the year.
Northern Virginia had a runner on 1st in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Count Dante came to bat, hoping to do some damage. Instead, he struck out. The score remained 3-1, Las Vegas. The Rainbow Mermaids saw their comeback bid fail.
The Flamingos, now 6-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
