Big Day by De Paz Ignites Hotspur Win
|
Julián De Paz helped his team muscle past the Chicago Gold Sox, 8-5. In the game, the Phoenix third baseman went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Wes Hamm, who threw 105 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Phoenix is now 32-40, while Chicago is 37-35.
The Hotspur got a big at-bat from first baseman Tadayoshi Watanabe. For the game, Watanabe was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 72nd hit of the season gave Phoenix a 4-3 lead.
"I felt good up there," said De Paz. "I saw the ball well."
