Cattlemen Get Road Win, 6-3
|
Getting a good performance from shortstop Chris Etheridge, the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeated the Quebec City Les Bleus, 6-3. Etheridge went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Cattlemen. Robbie Betchley, the winner, improved to 12-4. He held the Les Bleus to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Ricardo Ruíz, credited with the save, is now 15 for 21 in save opportunities.
The Cattlemen got a big at-bat from right fielder Rick Mayfield. For the game, Mayfield went 2-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 17th double of the season gave Ft. Worth a 5-3 lead.
"This was a good win for us," said Mayfield. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Ft. Worth is in third place in the Third League with a record of 59-40.
