Patriots Dump Hotspur, 9-5
|
The Boston Patriots beat the Phoenix Hotspur, 9-5, at Chase Field. Manuel Carmona was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. The 27-year old left fielder was a menace to Phoenix all day. The Patriots now have a record of 28-40 with the win over Phoenix.
Had Jesús Reyes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Reyes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Patriots.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Carmona.
