Victory Pushes 1837 BBC Record to 36-30
|
The Houston 1837 BBC topped the Wizarding Express, 6-3, in Menard's Third League action at Houston Grounds. The player of the game was Houston pitcher Alexis Zambaco. The win was credited to Pedro Valdéz in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Fred Gunther took the loss. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto, credited with the save, is now 11 for 12 in save opportunities.
The 1837 BBC got a big at-bat from center fielder Owen Sharts. For the game, Sharts was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Houston a 5-3 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Zambaco told the Houston News.
