Preckwinkle Hits 2 home runs in Gold Sox Win
|
The Chicago Gold Sox topped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids by the score of 5-1, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Zeus Preckwinkle. Preckwinkle hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Gold Sox. Chicago starter Tony Alfonso was credited with the win after throwing 93 pitches over 8.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-6. Ilie Paunescu, credited with the save, is now 8 for 14 in save opportunities.
Early in the game, Preckwinkle had a 2-run home run for Chicago. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Gold Sox on top, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Chicago Herald, Preckwinkle said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
