Big Day for Coss as Lakers Down Outlaws, 11-3
|
The Echo Park Lakers defeated the Nashville Outlaws, 11-3. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Guillermo Coss, who was 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Will Hunting was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. The winning streak has now reached 11 games for Echo Park.
The Lakers got a lift from shortstop Freddy Torres who had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning off Don Blessing. It was his 29th RBI of the season and put Echo Park in front, 1-0.
"We came out aggressive," said Lakers manager Jordan Calhoun. "We came out swinging the bats."
