Grey Wolves Lose to Hotspur, 4-3
|
Fans of the Phoenix Hotspur who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Phoenix win over the visiting Vancouver Grey Wolves, 4-3. Wes Hamm started for the home team against Gerardo Pagán. Wes Hamm earned the coveted player of the game honors. In 8 innings, Hamm surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Morris Prinkey closed the game out for Phoenix, earning his 1st save.
The Hotspur got a big at-bat from left fielder Pierre Bernard. For the game, Bernard went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Phoenix a 2-0 lead.
