Late Rally by Rainbow Mermaids Secures Win
|
Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids starter Ramón Molina was in fine form against the Boston Patriots at Dunkin Donuts Park, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Northern Virginia reliever Frenk Norman picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eugene Clarkston was saddled with the loss. Mark Valle earned the save for Northern Virginia, his 2nd of the year.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from third baseman Zahid Kashani. For the game, Kashani was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Northern Virginia a 2-1 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Molina told the Northern Virginia Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The win takes Northern Virginia to 3-3.
