Smoke Shut Out Patriots
|
Sy-ing Tah pitched a gem to lead Atlanta to a 2-0 victory over the Boston Patriots. In 8 innings, Tah surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. The Patriots, at 17-28, have lost 7 in a row.
The Smoke got a big at-bat from left fielder Valentín Guzmán. For the game, Guzmán went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Atlanta a 2-0 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Smoke manager Scott McMahon. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
