Greenville Snaps Scorpio's Streak at 22 Saturday, September 1st, 2029 For 22 straight games, Hank Scorpio tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 28-year-old Vancouver Grey Wolves right fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Greenville 84s. The 84s held him hitless in 4 at-bats at 84s Field today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 22. There was at leas one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Grey Wolves took the win by the score of 5-3. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." Scorpio is hitting .341 so far this season with 35 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 85 hits including 4 home runs, 20 walks and .397 OBP. |
