Boston Snaps Ayala's Streak at 31
Tuesday, September 18th, 2029
For 31 straight games, Juan Jose Ayala tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.

Well, the 23-year-old Panama City Piranhas shortstop can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Boston Patriots. The Patriots held him hitless in 4 at-bats at Dunkin Donuts Park today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 31.

There was at leas one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Piranhas took the win by the score of 2-1.

"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."

Ayala is hitting .318 this year with 3 home runs and 45 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .373, 34 walks and scored 73 times.
