Friday, December 28th, 2029
Rainbow Mermaids second baseman and noted animal rights activist Bernardo Herrera appeared at a local animal shelter today. Herrera visited the shelter to help call attention to the cause of pet adoption. "These animals desperately need to be taken in by loving families," said the popular Northern Virginia player as he cradled a small puppy. "Many of these little guys were unwanted and abandoned. I just want to use my status in the community to help find good homes for them." Herrera, who is a member of PETA, has long been a spokesman for the organization and is a noted advocate for animal protection.
