Late Rally by Middies Secures Win
|
Thunder Bay got a terrific performance from pitcher Tyler MacHugh, but it wasn't enough to beat the Grafton Middies. Grafton won the Field of the Middies contest, 3-2. MacHugh was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Grafton reliever Francis Cahill picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Stewart Fleming was saddled with the loss. The Middies improved to 44-40.
Grafton took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, third baseman Stefano Gaddi hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I felt good up there," said Gaddi. "I saw the ball well."
