Hotspur Slip Past Richardson City, 2-1
|
Phoenix rode a good effort from starter Jaime van de Weideven to beat the Richardson City Thundercats at Chase Field. The final score was 2-1. Phoenix reliever Alexander Weareorwear picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Kirby Brown shouldered the loss. The Hotspur, now 13-6, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The Hotspur got a big at-bat from designated hitter Shojiro Ueda. For the game, Ueda was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the bottom of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 16th hit of the season gave Phoenix a 2-1 lead.
In postgame comments, Ueda said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
