Denis Higgins made an impact in the 3-2 Thunder Bay win over D.C.. Higgins, who is rated as the 13th best prospect by BNN, was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Rafael Rodríguez got the win, improving to 7-3. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Rodas Aguilar notched his 5th save in 5 chances.
Higgins contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Thunder Bay in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Higgins took a fastball from Germán Rodríguez and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Northern Lions BC to leap in front, 3-1.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth said following the tough loss.
The Northern Lions BC' win now puts them at 34-36.
