Big Day at the Plate for Alberink Not Enough for Cattlemen
|
The Grafton Middies had to overcome a big game from Ft. Worth third baseman Lloyd Alberink to leave Field of the Middies with a 8-7 victory. Alberink was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Bob Browning picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Bartolomeu Lio was tagged with the loss. The Middies bumped their record to 23-18 with this latest triumph.
Grafton took a 8-7 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, catcher Jorge Flores hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Flores told the Grafton Herald. "It's as simple as that."
