Despite a great performance by Northern Virginia starter Aurelio López, the Panama City Piranhas defeated the Rainbow Mermaids by the score of 3-2 at Atlantica today. López threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Piranhas from moving one game closer to the Round 2031. Panama City now leads the Round 2030 - .
Cale Sutton made it 3-2 in favor of Panama City when he delivered a 2-run home run. It came with two out in the top of the ninth. The Piranhas went on to win.
"It feels good to get that win," said Sutton. "Now it's on to the next one."
