The Philadelphia 1776 BC moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Boston Patriots at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum by a score of 7-3. BC left-hander Raúl Melro was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the BC a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

Jeff Rutherford, who is rated as the 63rd best prospect by BNN, aided the Philadelphia 1776 cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman drove in one run.

"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Rutherford told the Philadelphia 1776 Bulletin.
