Almost There: Richardson City On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 4-3 Win
The Richardson City Thundercats moved to within one game of the President's Shield today, downing the visiting Atlanta Smoke at The Thunder Dome by a score of 4-3. Thundercats right-hander Júlio Martínez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Thundercats a - advantage in the best-of- Play-In.

Had Anselmo Berneu not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Berneu hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Thundercats.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Berneu said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
