Dodgers Hammered by Wilder, Fall Further Behind in R1
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Brooklyn Dodgers on the road at Ebbetts Field by a score of 6-3. Dutchmen shortstop Hank Wilder was named player of the game after he was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win gives the Dutchmen a - advantage in the best-of- Third League Championship.
Tied up with the Dodgers in the top of the fourth inning, the Dutchmen got a boost from second baseman Enrique Morales. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Morales saw a first pitch fastball from Eddie Kop and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put New Amsterdam on top, 1-0.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Morales.
