Grey Wolves Cut Down Middies, 8-6
|
Vancouver right-hander Juan Pérez made an effective start against the Grafton Middies at Wolf Den in Vancouver, leading his team to a 8-6 win. Pérez, the winner, moves to 2-3. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 2 walks. Picking up the save was Francisco Valdés, his 4th.
Seishiro Nishimura delivered a big hit for the Grey Wolves. The veteran first baseman belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. The longball put Vancouver on top, 2-2. Overall, Nishimura was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Pérez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Vancouver, at 14-15, occupies 6th place in the Silver League.
