The Austin Rangers are one game away from a sweep after a 4-3 win over the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Rangers Stadium today. Rangers right-hander Shawn Williams was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Austin now holds a - advantage in the best-of- Play-In.

Xavier Vásquez aided the Austin cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the shortstop went 2-4 with a double.

Vásquez told a Austin Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
