Almost There: Grafton On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 8-4 Win
Northern Virginia third baseman Brett Callison pounded Grafton Middies pitchers at Field of the Middies, but it was not enough to keep the Rainbow Mermaids from falling, 8-4 in Game of the Silver League Championship. Callison went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Rainbow Mermaids slip to a - deficit in the best-of- series.

San Jose, California-born Jorge Flores came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded and the Middies trailing 1-0, he hit a grand slam home run to left to put Grafton on top.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Flores said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."
