Northern Virginia Wins Game in Extras; On Verge of R2
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids took the first game of the Play-In in dramatic fashion today, topping the Grafton Middies 4-3 in an extra-inning walk-off win. Rainbow Mermaids right-hander Aurelio López was selected player of the game, as he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Northern Virginia first baseman Roberto Sánchez, facing Dylan Silva, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Rainbow Mermaids the 4-3 win.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said López.
