Middies Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Grafton Middies topped the Athletic Club KC by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Pedro Santos. Santos was 2-4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Middies. Robbie Baxter was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Truman Valentine earned the save for Grafton, his 8th of the year.
Santos had a big at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the second inning, when he hit a 2-run single. The Middies went on to win.
"Enjoyed this one," Santos told the Grafton Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Grafton, now 13-7, has played well in the early going.
