Middies Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Grafton withstood an impressive performance by Thunder Bay catcher Carlos Padilla to defeat the Northern Lions BC, 7-5, at Great Northern Field. Padilla went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Robbie Baxter picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 6 in 5 innings. Picking up the save was Truman Valentine, his 5th.
It could have been a different outcome for Grafton, had it not been for Pedro Santos, the fan favorite . Santos contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Grafton up, 5-4.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Santos said.
The Middies, now 7-3, have been on a roll in the early going.
