Northern Lions BC Lose to Cattlemen, 5-2
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen topped the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 5-2, with youngster Jesús Morales playing a key role. Morales went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Cattlemen in the win. Nicholas Wells got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Asher Spivey picked up the save for Ft. Worth, his 3rd of the year.
Morales contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Ft. Worth in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Morales took a fastball from Rafael Cardona and stroked the double to left-center. His 2nd double of the season allowed the Cattlemen to leap in front, 2-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson.
With the loss, Thunder Bay is 2-4.
