Big Day at the Plate for Vega Not Enough for BC
|
Philadelphia 1776 left fielder Tony Vega had a good game, even if his team did not. The BC dropped a 9-6 decision to Ft. Worth at The Cattle Pen. Vega was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The winner was Aaron Wise in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Cory Sanders took the loss. Picking up the save was Asher Spivey, his 1st.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when right fielder Rick Mayfield, who is rated as the 8th best prospect by BNN, drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Cattlemen went on to win.
"We got the victory," said Mayfield. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Ft. Worth has a record of 1-1.
