Dodgers Subdue Chicago, 4-2
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers stopped the Chicago Gold Sox, 4-2, at Gold Sox Field. The Dodgers got a big game from Manuel Carmona, who was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles. Todd Hines picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-3. He struck out 5 in 5 innings. Sjaak Bonne, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 22nd save.
Carmona had a key at-bat for Brooklyn early in the game. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a run-scoring triple. It was his 6th triple of the season and gave Brooklyn an early 1-0 lead.
After the game, Brooklyn manager Troy Holl applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Brooklyn is now 48-50.
