Thundercats Roll Over Hotspur, 11-2
|
The Richardson City Thundercats topped the Phoenix Hotspur by the score of 11-2, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Anselmo Berneu. Berneu was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Thundercats. Juan Valéncia, the winner, improved to 12-6. He held the Hotspur to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Phoenix has now lost 5 straight.
Richardson City grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Berneu, who is tied for 8th in the PL with a .299 batting average, hit a 2-run home run. His 29th home run of the season put the Thundercats out in front, 4-2.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Berneu. "And not try to do too much."
