Patriots Get Road Win, 8-5
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Jorge Velázquez, the Boston Patriots defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers, 8-5. Velázquez was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Patriots. The winner was Cameron Frye, who threw 86 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 5 hits. Folkert van Huizen, credited with the save, is now 19 for 22 in save opportunities.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from right fielder Karl Schultz. For the game, Schultz went 1-5. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 32nd hit of the season gave Boston a 6-5 lead.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Schultz said. "We did a pretty good job of that today."
Boston has now won 3 straight, while the Dodgers have lost 3 in a row.
