Northern Virginia beat Wizarding on the strength of starter Javier Desdin's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Desdin went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-2. The save was credited to David Hudson, his 25th.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from third baseman Eustacio Tafalla. For the game, Tafalla was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Northern Virginia a 2-0 lead.
"Winning is contagious," said Desdin. "We're looking forward to the next game."
