Victory Pushes Smoke Record to 46-40
|
Allen Blair pitched a gem to lead Atlanta to a 3-1 victory over the Richardson City Thundercats. In 8 innings, Blair surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Smoke bumped their record to 46-40 with this latest triumph.
Had Melito Báez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Báez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Smoke.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Blair said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
