Rainbow Mermaids Win at Boston, 5-2
|
The exploits of left fielder Eustacio Tafalla, who is tied for 8th in the PL in triples with 4, helped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeat the Boston Patriots, 5-2. Tafalla went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mimosa Joseph got the win, improving to 8-5. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 4. David Hudson, credited with the save, is now 20 for 22 in save opportunities.
The Rainbow Mermaids got a big at-bat from catcher Arlen Joysey. For the game, Joysey went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Northern Virginia a 2-1 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Joysey said.
Boston's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
