Castro Rips Atlanta for 5 Hits
Melvin Castro put on a hitting clinic today as the Chicago Gold Sox dumped the Atlanta Smoke 12-11 at Smoke Ballpark.

The Chicago designated hitter made Atlanta defenders earn their pay, lashing Atlanta pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Castro said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Melvin Castro singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Fraser Cuevas in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.

Castro is hitting .310 so far this season with 53 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 91 hits including 13 home runs, 27 walks and .367 OBP.
