The Buckhead Bowties defeated the Chicago Hawks, 5-3, in Menard's Third League action at 5 Paces Park, with Buckhead pitcher Tomás Vargas named player of the game. Buckhead currently is in 10th place in the Third League at 38-55.

The Bowties got a big at-bat from shortstop Mesa Altuve. For the game, Altuve was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Buckhead a 4-3 lead.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Bowties manager Kerry Hofmeister. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
